In the spirit of the holidays, a group of PCA’ers volunteered to create a winter wonderland in gingerbread and candy for pre-schoolers at Horizon’s for Homeless Children Center in Roxbury. The tableau features the Roxbury High Fort, a centerpiece of the town (and a structural challenge – gingerbread with curved walls!). Row houses, a candy pond complete with ducks and goldfish, a sledding hill and numerous ice cream cone trees – all decorated with holiday lights, created a fanciful scene for the kids to enjoy…until they eat it up!
Along with donating the gingerbread house, PCA also volunteered at the shelter, leading a workshop to help the children make holiday gifts for their parents – something the shelter does every year. We were happy to make the holidays a little sweeter for kids in need.
