David Chilinski was on hand today at the ground breaking for a long-awaited mixed-use development at North Square at The Mill District. Hosted by Beacon Communities and attended by Governor Baker, state and local officials and community members, the development will be a new sustainably designed, mixed-income and mixed-use community surrounding a traditional New England village green with 130 1- 2- and 3-bedroom apartments, 22,000 SF of first floor retail, parking and open space. Twenty six of the 130 apartments will be designated for families that make less than 50% of the median income.
UPDATE: Governor Baker praised the new development in North Amherst at the groundbreaking ceremony. “This is a complete re-imagination of how this site at this point in time and into the future should be designed to support this community and its future,” Baker said. “These are the kinds of things that we as a commonwealth should be supporting so that folks at the local level have the capacity and the opportunity to do what make the most sense for their communities.” Read more on MassLive and in the Valley Advocate.
