Beyond just solving the unique design challenges for this site, PCA’s approach is fresh, new and smart.

Bruce Percelay, Chairman & Founder, The Mount Vernon Company

The Edge was PCA’s first contribution to the new Allston Green District in Boston. The project broke new ground by capitalizing on a new multi-housing option in an existing urban district overlooked by rental and condominium developers focused solely on the city’s “hot” neighborhoods.

The Edge transforms a light industrial site into a chic residential community. Catering to a young professional demographic, the design features large loft-style windows set in a masonry, wood and metal-panel skin. Thoughtful landscaping, including places to sit and hang out, present a friendly face to the neighborhood. The vibrant lobby, fitness center and connected outdoor space provide inviting communal spaces for residents of the building’s 79 one-and two-bedroom units.

PCA’s presentation of the Edge to the Boston Civic Design Commission was passed at the first meeting, with the Commission remarking that PCA understood urban design issues, the contextual point of view, what the city of Boston and the community are trying to do and how to weave that all together. The concept was met with enthusiasm by renters as well, with all units fully leased on opening day.
