Update of lobby, clubroom, fitness center and creation of new work lab and leasing office in ELEMENT, one of three multifamily apartments in Allston’s Green District.
ELEMENT’s original designer utilized conservative, neutral palettes and finishes which lacked the colorful, creative vitality that would eventually come to define Allston’s Green District. For this reason, National Development turned to PCA to refresh ELEMENT’s interior public spaces to better align with the overall look and feel shared by its ECO and EDGE counterparts.
The design uses a mix of natural, industrial and modern finishes to create an eclectic vibe. The use of materials including custom designed metallic wallpaper and a steel and glass room divider bring an energy that is felt throughout the Green District. An additional “work lab” provides a place for inventive collaboration – elements such as a cow hide rug, custom neon sign, and an Allston inspired mural add dynamism to the space.
The new leasing office takes over the existing fitness center on the ground floor, which will be relocated to the second floor. In the lobby, a relocation and modern redesign of the fireplace makes the seating area more functional and inviting. The second floor club room is updated to add a range of activity options, including an entertainment kitchen and pool table, encouraging groups of residents to use the space communally for work and social events.
