Galaxy Cafe at the Museum of Science

Boston, MA

Client

Museum of Science
Sodexho Food Service

Program

Consolidate satellite concessions into one 12,000 SF food court including a variety of stations and menu concepts.

Challenge

Convert a space carved from the junction of three separate buildings into a functional and educational eatery that expresses the mission of the museum.

Solution

The design removed as many load-bearing walls as possible to open up views of the Charles River. “Star-studded” ceiling lights and a central light-scattering sculpture element express a “science” theme. Visible display kitchens and bakeries are incorporated into concession stations, each with a unique personality.
