Northeastern University Stetson East Dining

Boston, MA

This project is a spectacular success! Our new dining facility and student center have had a dramatic, positive effect on our students’ residential environment. The compatibility of the project team and dedication of Prellwitz Chilinski has produced one of the smoothest projects I have been associated with – on time and on budget.

15,000 SF renovation and addition for new student dining and social center

Re-position the dining hall of an aging dormitory into a new meeting place where students can gather informally or dine at cutting-edge restaurant concepts.

A new glass atrium forms a welcoming, transparent link between two existing dormitories, and provides a highly visible indoor/outdoor public space for dining and performances. A new landscaped entry court and canopy, wood paneled elevator for accessibility, and rich color scheme upgrade the public image of the dormitory.

The multi-award-winning space led to 100% occupancy in the adjacent, and formerly undesirable, Stetson dormitories. Overall, meal plan enrollment increased significantly – students from nearby schools even enrolled in single courses at Northeastern for access to Stetson East.
