Study of 360-bed apartment style residence hall quantifying cost to upgrade aging kitchens, bathrooms and finishes while increasing the number of single bedrooms.
To create narratives and diagrammatic plans to build a cost estimate for the viability of renovating the building.
PCA conducted a study at Bates Hall, a 360-bed college apartment complex, to determine the cost to create additional singles and upgrade interior finishes including kitchens and baths. The study also included the cost to demolish and rebuild the apartments as an alternative to renovation.
The goal was to divide bedrooms where possible to create singles in place of doubles while keeping the current bed count.
