The Mount Vernon Company / Torrington Properties
Interior design of 6,420 SF amenity space including the lobby, a fitness center, communal work spaces, clubhouse, coffee bar, and game room.
For the design of this newly constructed residential building, Mount Vernon tasked PCA’s interior designers to fully realize the potential of this large-scale first-floor space. PCA crafted several amenity spaces that reflect the mix of the natural outdoors and the walkable, urban charm of downtown Portsmouth.
Making full use of 6,420 SF of amenity space, the open-concept first floor contains few closed walls, becoming a multi-use active space for communal fun and productive meetings. The lobby includes a mailroom and package area and shared amenity areas such as a clubhouse with fireplace, billiard table, foosball table, and kitchen, all designed to be both functional and inviting, with plenty of room and moveable furniture to accommodate residents and their activities.
PCA’s interior designers created lobby and amenity spaces using a mix of sophisticated natural finishes. Warm, neutral woods offset vibrant pops of color throughout. The use of unique, modern furnishings, lend the space a youthful, eclectic, and playful feel. Natural materials such as a chevron patterned wood wall, grey slate and wood floors, as well as grass-inspired area rugs, bring the outside in to create vibrant indoor playgrounds for residents. A glass-enclosed fitness area with an operating garage door offers views of adjacent green space and the neighborhood.
