Warwick Country Club
30,000 SF renovation and 5,000 SF expansion of private clubhouse with public banquet facility.
The existing clubhouse for this historic 18-hole golf course along the shores of the Narragansett Bay had become insufficient for the needs of the club and its membership. Sections of the facility were underutilized due to poor access, while entrances for both members and guests were inconspicuous and poorly positioned.
A new members’ entrance on the main level immediately establishes a greater sense of place and helps to separate member and guest functions. Expanded function rooms connect to the existing hall to create a flexible space that opens up for circulation yet allows for separation of activity as needed. A new snack bar and expanded pro shop provide an increased level of service to members. The new layout allows members to take advantage of the dramatic view of the course and the bay from both the expanded dining room and the new second story wrap-around decks.
PCA reconfigured the lower level to create a smaller function room and large ladies’ and men’s locker rooms and lounges. The perimeter of the level was kept as a members’ function room that looks out onto the ninth hole and bay.
The enhanced vistas from within the facility create a setting that supports rental for functions as well as a better dining facility for members. Replacement and updating of furnishings and fixtures reaffirmed the traditional atmosphere while modernizing the space, giving the members a clubhouse to match the quality of their course.
